Sign up for Small Group Classes here.

At MVP, our groups are limited to 4 students per class…so it feels more like a semi-private than a standard “Group Class.” You’ll get lots of individual attention and corrections that will make an important difference in your practice. We have a diverse offering of Small Group Classes, including Reformer, Mat, and Mixed Equipment. We are happy to add additional sessions when there is demand.

We are proud to offer a comprehensive selection of offerings for all levels…from deliberately-paced stability-focused sessions, to fast-paced, fitness-based workouts.

Group Classes work best for healthy, non-injured bodies. Before joining a group, we highly recommend taking a few one-on-one Private Sessions with one of our experienced teachers to get the feel for the equipment, ensure your safety, and troubleshoot any potential challenges.

Class Descriptions

Pilates Mat Technique

This is no ordinary mat class. Taught by expert Pilates teachers, this 55-minute mat technique session has a maximum of 4 to 5 participants. You will learn the intention and sequence of Joseph Pilates’ original mat exercises, as well as benefit from eagle-eyed adjustments and additional preparatory exercises that will make a marked difference in your body alignment, posture, and strength. Some props may be used, but this is mainly a body-weight-based workout. Take a Mat Technique class and learn why Mat Work is an integral–and challenging–part of the Pilates Method. This class is meant for non-injured bodies; those with injuries or chronic conditions should consult with studio staff to learn the best match for your body needs.

Introduction to Pilates Workshop

Introductory workshops are offered at various times throughout the year. Stay tuned for our next series!

This 10-week course will provide the foundation needed to start your Pilates practice. We will cover the fundamentals of the Classical Method while learning both the basic mat and beginning Reformer work. By the end of the workshop, clients will be prepared to start level 1 group classes, as well as be able to maintain their own basic-level practice at home.
This workshop may not be appropriate for those with recent or acute chronic injuries. Please contact the studio to discuss any concerns.

Reformer Level 1

A natural “next step” after Introduction to Pilates. This fundamental level class is perfect for both beginners and people with years of Pilates experience who are looking to refresh and invigorate their work-out. We work on discovering (or rediscovering!) the deep, subtle muscles of the core in order to reconnect their importance to more advanced exercises of the repertoire. Examples of Level 1 exercises include: Footwork, The One Hundred, Elephant, Frogs and Circles with feet in straps.

Contemporary Reformer Level 2

If you have mastered the fundamentals, Reformer Level 2 is the class for you! This mostly intermediate-level class adds contemporary and creative variations to the classical Pilates repertoire for a challenging full-body workout. Level 2 incorporates more complex movements patterns and more demanding balance positions. Prerequisites: familiarity with the beginning reformer repertoire, knowledge of equipment and spring setup and cha
(Please Note: This class is not appropriate for those with active injuries or those new to Pilates.)

Classical Intermediate  Reformer

This class follows the original order of reformer exercises developed by Joseph Pilates. It incorporates rhythm, dynamic movement and flow through transitions so as to build the stamina and breath capacity required for this level, as well as the continued advancement of the Method. Fewer points of contact and increased range further add challenge. Students must be in charge of working with the equipment and able to modify as needed to get the full benefit. Knowledge of the classical beginning Reformer work is required.

Mixed Reformer & Props

Mixed Reformer with Props is a diverse class featuring work on the mat and reformer with guest appearances by props such as the theraband, overball, magic circle, and posture brick. The emphasis of this class is whole body movement and concentration with a focus on balance and coordination using the Pilates movement principles. A solid understanding of the fundamentals of Pilates is encouraged, though all levels are welcome. A great class for creative individuals looking for a mind/body challenge. Come have fun with us!

Classical Intermediate Mixed Apparatus

This class alternates between Reformer and Mat work on a weekly basis, with occasional Chair thrown in. The classical work incorporates more rhythm, dynamic movement and flow through transitions so as to build the stamina and breath capacity required for this level, as well as the continued advancement of the Method. Fewer points of contact and increased range further add challenge. Students must be in charge of working with the equipment, have a working knowledge of the choreography, and be able to modify as needed to get the full benefit. Knowledge of beginning Reformer and Mat are required.

Pilates Power Hour

Looking to step up your Pilates game? Want a challenging, fitness-focused, Pilates-based workout? This is the class for you. A circuit-style workout that combines intermediate-level Reformer work, cardiovascular intervals on the Jumpboard, and potentially mat exercises and additional apparatus for a powerful combination that will leave you energized and ready to tackle the rest of your day.

Note: This class is not appropriate for those with active injuries or new to Pilates…but not to worry, we’ve got options for everyone!
